Contributing to a healthy and sustainable future for the “people” and “planet” remains centerstage at Dyut Foundation – hence our non-profit philanthropic initiatives revolve around projects designed against 4 thematic pillars of Education, Health & Hygiene, Environment & Livelihood.

To celebrate the completion of two years of our eventful journey, we are pleased to invite you to share your unique perspective on a “Sustainable” Ecosystem in DYUTI 2025 – a Photography, Short Film cum Documentary Contest organized by us.

With the submission deadline until 4th August’25, we believe you have ample time to let your creativity flow. What’s more, this competition comes with an array of exciting prizes, making it an engaging experience for all participants. The top 10 entries, chosen by our expert jury, will be featured in the Dyut Hall of Fame in our website. No matter if you’re a hobbyist or a seasoned photo or cinematographer, we will be honored to welcome your talent.

With your whole-hearted participation, we’re hopeful of a very exciting competition ahead that will culminate in the final award ceremony on 11th August’25 at Kolkata. So, pick up your camera, find your focus, and join us in celebrating the art in our second birthday.

Dyut Foundation’s Photography cum Short Film Contest (“Dyuti 2025”) invites you to capture the diverse and profound effect of “Sustainability” on our lives. In every corner of the globe, a sustainable thought and act weaves a sense of “hope”. Through your captured moments and narrations, please show us how sustainability empowers our real-world experiences towards “life” & “positivity”.

Let your creativity flow via any one or more of the following building themes of a sustainable ecosystem

Planet
(Environmental Sustainability)

This includes acts of responsible usage of natural resources to meet our needs while ensuring they remain available for future generations. Protecting ecosystems, reducing pollution, conserving biodiversity, promoting practices that keep the planet healthy in the long run are few examples of such acts that promote Environmental.

People
(Social Sustainability)

Fostered through People of the community. Social Sustainability focuses on ensuring the well-being of people and communities via social equity and justice, Diversity and inclusion, Democratic participation and empowerment, Livelihood security, and social well-being with quality of life.

Profit
(Economic Sustainability) 

Economic sustainability refers to practices that support long-term economic growth without negatively impacting  social, environmental, & cultural aspects of the community. This means reducing the worldwide consumption of resources to ensure they are available to future generations to create financial stability.

Our chosen theme of Sustainability include themes around Nature, Wildlife Conservation, Social, Environment, Climate Action, Educational, Economic impact on human life across our planet.

Bhaskar Mukherjee
(Short film/Documentary Segment)

Bhaskar has grown up in a multidiscipline cultural environment. He is the founder of Srishtisandhan, an online treasure trove of contemporary Bengali parallel literature (srishtisandhan.com) and Srishtisandhan Academy, a voluntary organization dedicated towards the education and cultural upliftment of underprivileged children.

He is also the founder of Lightscribes, a Photography institution promoting visual literacy through the language of photography (lightscriber.org). He was the Convener of Kolkata International Photography Festival.

Bhaskar is the author and Editor of multiple photography books published internationally, such as Damoder a Riverscape and My Imagination, along with various publications from Srishtisandhan. Bhaskar was associated with various theatre groups and initiatives from a very young age. He produced and directed various plays earlier and recently as part of Srishtisandhan Academy.

By profession he is in the software industry working as the General Manager of a reputed Multinational Company. He is also a regular speaker at various industry forums such as IEEE and others. Chasma (2024) is his first attempt on this creative medium.

MAINAK-DEY
Mainak Dey
(Photography Segment)

Mainak Dey, a Software Engineer by Profession, carries a great passion towards different genres of Photography and takes out time to run behind them to fulfill the hunger for passion. Being a self taught Photographer, he started his journey with travel Photography across multiple continents. His photographs disperse from beautiful landscapes to the stories of people from different races, religions and countries. His works also display different shades and dimensions of nature and wildlife in various forms and during his development as a travel and nature photographer, he has also left mark in Creative Fashion Portraits in parallel. In the Journey of his Photographic career, Mainak has won more than 1000 International awards from as many as 62 countries across the globe.

As a visual artist, Mainak always looks for new learnings and shares his knowledge with fellow Photographers to make the Photographic journey more collaborative Globally. Currently Mainak serves as the Photographic Society of America Volunteer of Portrait Genre Mentor for the PSA members across the globe.

I am a street and travel photographer based in Kolkata, India. I am a Software Architect by profession and photography is my passion. I started photography in 2017. Later I become a member of the Federation of India Photography (FIP). I also have achieved distinct like Excellent FIAP (EFIAP) from The International Federation of Photographic Art and EFIP from the Federation of India Photography. My photographs have been awarded and exhibited in different competitions around the world. Some of them are

  • HIPA Insta Contest (2022 and 2024)

I follow a lot of photographers and get inspired by their work. Some of the Legends are – Raghu Rai, Raghubir Singh, Henry Cartier Bresson, Fan Ho, Gary Winograd, Alex Webb, David Alan Harvey, Steve McCurry, and many more. I am also inspired by a lot of young and contemporary photographers’ work from India and Bangladesh.

Runa Chowdhury

An accomplished singer with many award winning performances to her credit, Runa, who also holds a MBA and Ph.D that gives a fillip to her academic credentials, had a deep fascination towards theatres and drama when she started participating in different competition in school and colleges and exploring herself as a stage actor. Her first play was the character of Shylock in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice. Since then Runa has won accolades and awards from at least 47 National and International Film Festivals as Best Actor, Director, Editor, concept, Sound Design and Short Films.

GENERAL RULES & GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

·        Entrant is the sole copyright owner and creator of the images/Short films/Documentaries.

·        The Entrant agrees to maintain and uphold the highest ethical standards in all matters relating to the Contest and his/her submission(s)

·        Entrants do not disclose information that is confidential that might damage the reputation of the Contest.

·        The Entrant gives full rights to the organizer to use the images for their promotional activities, corporate brochures, calendar etc. Due acknowledgment of the photographer’s name will be mentioned for the images that are used by the Owners of the Competition.

·        All images/Short films/Documentaries submitted will compulsorily need to be “Titled”. Any submission that have no title or labelled as “untitled” will be disqualified.

·        All submissions for the contest have to be made only by an online entry in the designated portal accessible via https://dyut.org.in/

·        Entries are only accepted in digital format.

·        Multiple entries from the same participant are accepted, but each registration must be accompanied by a separate form and entry fee.

·        Jury decisions will be final and binding.

·        If there is dispute of any kind, the decision of the juries will be final and binding on all concerned.

·        The submitted images/Short films/Documentaries should not infringe on the ownership and copyright of other individuals, organizations, entity, etc. Entries must be entirely your own original work and must not breach or be in violation of any copyright or other rights of third parties. Dyut Foundation will not be in any way liable for any non-original work submitted by you.

·        Any entry found not to comply with the Rules at any stage of the Contest may be disqualified.

·        The Organizers shall not be held responsible for non-performance and any obligation cast on them by these rules due to the occurrence of any force-majeure event including any act of God, civil commotion, natural calamity and any other happening, which the Organizers cannot reasonably prevent or control.

Following submissions are “Not permitted

·       Featuring farm birds, family pets, nesting birds, caged birds, captive / domestic animals

·       Captured with any human intervention and/or un-natural / manmade objects, structures, etc.

·       Trap camera images are not accepted

·        Up to 4 images per entry per entrant is allowed.

·        Submissions must be in digital format only. Black and White images are also allowed for entry.

·        For all categories, digital files must be submitted only in JPEG format, saved at a highest quality setting.

·        At 1920 pixels along the longest dimension.

·        No borders, watermarks or signatures should be included.

·        Colour space of images entered to be set to either sRGB OR Adobe RGB

·        Do not use any form of AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools for cloning, adding / removing any subject in the image. Only dust spots may be removed.

·        Each Photo File size can be maximum of up-to 10 MB

·        Digital adjustments including tone and contrast, burning, dodging, cropping, sharpening, noise reduction, minor cleaning work are permitted provided that they comply with the Competitions’ principles of authenticity, so that they do not deceive the viewer or misrepresent the reality of nature.

·        Adding, cloning and/or removing objects, animals or parts of animals, plants, people etc are not allowed.

·        Entrants should not include their name in the caption or on the image captured. EXIF details like camera and lens specifications, exposure information should be kept intact.

·        Entrants whose work has been shortlisted will be required to provide the following for authentication purposes:

·        RAW files (eg .CR2, .NEF etc)

·        High Resolution TIFF / tif.

  • Up to 4 image per entry per entrant is allowed.

  • The participant must be above 18 years of age.
  • The participant must be a citizen of India, residing in India.
  • Multiple entries are allowed.
  • The entries can be documentaries, short films, animations or experimental art forms.
  • All entries must be accompanied by labelled still photographs/slides from the films for use in the promotion.
  • Films once entered cannot be withdrawn.
  • The duration for the short film must be from 1 minute – 20 minutes.
  • The short film must be original, and no watermark of any kind should be on the film.
  • The film must be of highest quality possible.
  • Adult content of any kind will not be entertained and would lead to direct disqualification.
  • Due credits must be given to the cast and the crew in the film though the final prize would go to the director(s)/producer(s).
  • Films in Language other than English/Hindi/Bengali should carry subtitles in English.
  • Multiple entries from the same participant are accepted, but each film must be accompanied by a separate form and entry fee.
  • Judges’ decision will be final and binding.
  • Dyut Foundation reserves the right to change / modify / alter any rule or its part or event of this competition anytime.
